New Lucena, Iloilo—In a strong show of commitment to environmental conservation, Mayor Liecel Mondejar-Seville has issued Memorandum Order No. 2025-27, directing all Punong Barangays and Department Heads of the the local government unit of the Municipality of New Lucena to actively encourage employees, constituents, and communities to participate in Earth Hour on March 22, 2025.  

        The memorandum underscores the municipality’s dedication to sustainability and climate action, urging residents to switch off non-essential lights and electrical appliances from 8:30 PM to 9:30 PM as part of the global movement to reduce energy consumption and raise awareness about environmental issues.

        Mayor Mondejar-Seville, a staunch advocate for environmental protection, has consistently emphasized the importance of collective action in addressing climate change. Under her administration, New Lucena has launched various eco-friendly initiatives, including tree planting activities and waste management campaigns—all aligned with her HEARTS campaign, which includes Environmental Management as one of the key pillars.
