In a significant step toward fostering community development and youth empowerment, the municipality of New Lucena has been chosen as an additional recipient of the Family and Youth Development Center (FYDC)—a flagship initiative of Governor Arthur R. Defensor Jr. through the Provincial Population Office.

On behalf of Governor Defensor, Provincial Administrator Raul Banias formally handed over a check amounting to ₱5 million to New Lucena Municipal Treasurer Mr. Rio C.  Mana-ay. This fund will support the construction of the FYDC, which is expected to become a vital hub for various family and youth-centered programs in the community. Also present during the turnover ceremony was Provincial Population Officer Atty. Ruel Von Superio.

A Landmark for Family and Youth Empowerment

The Family and Youth Development Center is designed to serve as a multi-purpose facility catering to programs that promote family values, adolescent health, youth development, and social services. This initiative aligns with Governor Defensor’s commitment to enhancing the well-being of families and young individuals across Iloilo province.

Governor Defensor himself is set to lead the groundbreaking ceremony of the FYDC in New Lucena on February 14, 2025—a fitting date that underscores the province’s dedication to building stronger and more resilient families.

Local Leaders in Full Support

The establishment of the Family and Youth Development Center in New Lucena is strongly supported by Mayor Liecel Mondejar-Seville, who has been actively advocating for community-based initiatives that empower the youth and strengthen family ties. Vice Mayor Isabelo M. Acollador and the entire municipal council also expressed their full commitment to ensuring the successful implementation of the project.

Enhancing Community Development in New Lucena

The Family and Youth Development Center is expected to play a pivotal role in shaping the future of New Lucena’s youth by providing them with opportunities for growth, education, and social interaction. The center will host workshops, livelihood training, counseling services, and recreational activities aimed at nurturing well-rounded individuals and strengthening family dynamics.
