Today, on June 26, 2023, the Baganihan Hall in New Lucena was filled with hope and determination as we gathered to commemorate the International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking (IDADAIT). This momentous event brought together Vice Mayor Isabelo Acollador, Sangguniang Bayan member Rene Asoy, esteemed speakers Hon. Maritess S. Soloveres, Chairperson of Peace and Order, and Police Captain Rogie I. Panelo, OIC Chief of Police, New Lucena Municipal Police Station, along with Persons Who Use Drugs (PWUDs) of New Lucena. The celebration began with a Photo Opportunity and a brief introduction of the International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking (IDADAIT) during the flag ceremony, showcasing the unity and commitment of LGU employees, New Lucena Municipal Police Station personnel, the Bureau of Fire, and municipal officials.

Her words resonated with the audience, emphasizing the importance of SEX - Sleep, Eat, and eXercise in the prevention, and maintenance of a healthy, resilient, and drug-free community.
The celebration at the Baganihan Hall included an important segment dedicated to sharing updates on the financial assistance provided to Baghayan members and its positive impact on their lives. Baghayan or Bagong Buhay at Kabuhayan, is an organization formed by Persons Who Used Drugs (PWUDS) who are graduates of the Community Drug Rehabilitation Program of the Local Government of New Lucena. The members were given financial assistance to support their livelihood.
This portion of the program highlighted the municipality's commitment to empowering individuals affected by drug abuse, providing them with opportunities to rebuild their lives and become productive members of society. The stories of transformation and resilience served as inspiration for all attendees, reinforcing the belief that support and intervention can make a significant difference in combating drug abuse.
