In a recent commendable display of law enforcement and dedication to public safety, Mayor Liecel Mondejar-Seville has recognized the outstanding efforts of the New Lucena Municipal Police Station, led by PCAPT ROGIE I. PANELA, Officer-In-Charge, for their instrumental role in a successful police operation. This operation, conducted in collaboration with the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group Iloilo City Field Unit, resulted in the arrest of Mr. Karl Andrei Dela S. Puerta, 20, a resident of Brgy. Damires, New Lucena, Iloilo. Mayor Liecel awarded a certificate of commendation to the police station, acknowledging their commitment to upholding justice and protecting the community.

        The New Lucena Municipal Police Station, under the leadership of PCAPT ROGIE I. PANELA, OIC, worked closely with the CIDG Iloilo CFU to execute a police operation in connection with LOI MANHUNT CHARLIE. The operation aimed to apprehend an individual accused of the crime of rape by carnal knowledge, as specified under Article 266-A Par. 1 of the Revised Penal Code, amended by RA 8353, in relation to RA 7610. A warrant of arrest, CC# 23-89049, was issued and signed by HON. REGINA CENTENERA CALANG-GUARIN, Presiding Judge of Branch 30, RTC 6th Judicial Region, Iloilo City, on May 16, 2023. The warrant was non-bailable, reflecting the seriousness of the charges.


        Thanks to the meticulous planning and coordinated efforts of the New Lucena Municipal Police Station and CIDG Iloilo CFU, the accused individual was apprehended successfully. The police officers ensured that the arrested person was duly informed of the nature of the crime committed and their constitutional rights. This crucial step was conducted in a local dialect known and understood by the accused, guaranteeing comprehension and fairness during the process.

        Following the arrest, the accused is presently detained at the New Lucena Municipal Police Station. However, the police station is fully committed to adhering to proper procedures and ensuring a smooth transition of custody. The individual will be transferred to the court of origin, where legal proceedings will take place in accordance with the law. The New Lucena Municipal Police Station will provide a written report on the operation, detailing the events leading to the arrest and the subsequent steps taken.
