On the morning of May 15, 2023, a significant event took place in the heart of Iloilo province. The contract signing ceremony for the National Intensification of Household Electrification (NIHE), a program by the Department of Energy, brought together key stakeholders to drive progress in the field of electrification. The partnership between the Iloilo Electric Cooperative II (ILECO II) and the Local Government of New Lucena showcased their unwavering commitment to improving the lives of their constituents. The participation of the barangays, including Baclayan, Janipaan Oeste, Badiang, Cabugao, and Balabag, demonstrated widespread support for this transformative initiative. 

The NIHE program seeks to intensify household electrification, ensuring that every home has access to reliable and affordable electricity. The partnership between ILECO II and the Local Government of New Lucena is a testament to their shared vision of empowering communities through energy access. By bridging the gap in electrification, the program promises to enhance the quality of life for residents, facilitate economic growth, and improve access to essential services. Through the leadership of Mayor Liecel Mondejar-Seville, Vice Mayor Isabelo M. Acollador, Senior Fire Officer 4 Rodel V. Balindua, ILECO II General Manager Engr. Jose Redmond Roquios, Engr. Rexus Lesondato and Engr.  Bernard Dario, the application process was streamlined. Applicable municipal fees were lifted to make the process affordable.  

 



The involvement of Brgy. Baclayan and Brgy. Janipaan Oeste in the morning session, followed by Brgy. Badiang, Brgy. Cabugao, and Brgy. Balabag showcased the inclusivity and reach of the NIHE program. The enthusiasm displayed by the constituents reflects their happiness and appreciation for the efforts made to bring electricity to their doorsteps. Access to electricity will not only facilitate better living conditions but also enable residents to pursue entrepreneurial opportunities, enhance education, and improve healthcare services.
