Mayor Liecel Mondejar-Seville led the release of salary for a total of sixty-three students who were employed last December 2021 in the Municipal Government of New Lucena under SPES (Special Program for the Employment of Students, yesterday.
The Special Program for Employment of Students is a youth employment-bridging program that aims to provide temporary employment to poor but deserving students, out-of-school youth, and dependents of displaced or would-be displaced workers during summer and/or Christmas vacation or any time of the year to augment the family’s income to help ensure that beneficiaries can pursue their education by the Department of Labor and Employment.
The qualifications are the following:
1. Students or out-of-school youth (OSY) at least 15 but not more than 30 years of age
2. Combined net income after tax of parents, including his/her own, if any, does not exceed the regional poverty threshold
3. Students must have obtained a passing general weighted average (GWA)
4. OSY must be certified by the local Social Welfare and Development Office (SWDO) as OSY
The program provides the youth with valuable experience for better school-to-work transition. The students will work for a minimum of 20 to a maximum of 52 working days where participating employers pay 60 percent of their salary while the DOLE pays the 40 percent share based on the applicable minimum wage in the area.
Last month, Mayor Liecel Mondejar-Seville also distributed the first component of their salary which was the municipal counterpart.
Mayor Liecel Mondejar-Seville eagerly supports SPES for the students of the Municipality of New Lucena under her brand "Liderato nga Masaligan sa Serbisyo."
