The pandemic caused by Coronavirus 2019 continued its onslaught affecting the lives of many Ilonggos, including all New Lucenanhons. Some private companies and tourism sectors had to close down temporarily to protect their workers. Some employees continue to work remotely, following a “work from home setup”. Worst, some of these companies had to terminate their staff to stay afloat while waiting for the economy to bounce back.

Micro, small and medium enterprises were also not exempted from this pandemic. The majority had to stop their operations due to ongoing community quarantine status disrupting their daily activities.

As an intervention, the Department of Social and Welfare and Development Regional Office VI together with Mayor Liecel Mondejar-Seville had launched LAG or Livelihood Assistance Grant 4.0 to all two hundred beneficiaries in the Municipality of New Lucena. All beneficiaries were store owners endorsed by their respective Punong Barangays and received P5,000 each to start or continue their store operations.

Also present during the distribution were Sangguniang Bayan Isabelo Acollador,   Sangguniang Bayan Jocelyn Espia and Sangguniang Bayan Nestor Sibolinao.
