Mayor Liecel Mondejar-Seville distributed financial assistance to the fifty-seven Persons Who Used Drugs of the Municipality of New Lucena who completed the required sessions of the Community-Based Rehabilitation Program (CBRP) of the municipality. Community-Based Rehabilitation Program (CBRP) is administered by the New Lucena Municipal Police Station, Municipal Health Office, and Municipal Social Welfare and Development.

Community-Based Rehabilitation Program (CBRP) is a holistic wellness program and life coach training focused on improving one’s lifestyle, eliminating unwanted behaviors, and becoming goal-oriented or forward thinkers through life coaching and the actual practice of stress management. The program hopes for a meaningful and sustained recovery for all PWUDs.

As an additional incentive, Mayor Liecel distributed ₱3,500.00 cash assistance that will serve as capital to start their business venture. For some that have an existing business, the assistance will aid in their expansion. Other beneficiaries expressed that they will use it to acquire livestock to augment their income.

Before this activity, Fifty-One PWUDs have attended a livelihood workshop last October 27, 2020, with PLT. Felice S. Dioso as facilitator.  PLT Dioso assisted them in formulating their business plan and submitted it at the end of the day. The group also formed their assembly and voted a set of officers who will lead in their affairs, hence, “BagHayan” was born. It means Bagong Buhay at Kabuhayan Association of New Lucena, Iloilo.

Mrs. Celna Ramos, acting-Municipal Social Welfare and Development Officer will continue to assist, monitor, and provide technical assistance to ensure their success and renewed recovery.

A few months earlier, Mayor Seville also unveiled “Balay Silangan” in the municipality. It is a program that will help in the rehabilitation and reformation of Persons Who Used Drugs.
