Mayor Liecel Mondejar-Seville proudly launched “Balay Silangan”, a community-based reformation program aimed to rehabilitate surrendered drug personalities in the Municipality of New Lucena. “Balay Silangan”, is a program that builds temporary shelters for drug offenders intending to reform them into self-sufficient and law-abiding members of society. The initiative is reformatory in nature. It is an alternative intervention for drug personalities and will be headed by Dr. Ma. Cristina S. Reala, Municipal Health Officer.

        


    Mayor Seville spearheaded the program launch, along with New Lucena MPS, PDEA Regional Director, DILG, New Lucena Municipal Health Office, key officers, and members of Municipal Anti-Drug Abuse Council today August 25, 2020, at New Lucena Multi-Purpose Hall.

    


    Among the highlights of the program launch was the signing of a Manifesto of Commitment by Municipal Mayor Liecel Mondejar-Seville, Director Edgar S. Apalla, Regional Director PDEA VI, PLT. Felice Dioso, OIC-Chief of Police New Lucena Municipal Police Station, Dr. Ma. Cristina S. Reala, Municipal Health Officer, Gretchen Bo-Peep Giner, Chief Administrative Division and Balay Silangan Focal Person, and members of Municipal Anti-Drug Abuse Council and the ribbon-cutting and unveiling of the Balay Silangan Building. 

    

        The initiative will help Persons Who Used Drugs of New Lucena by giving them another chance to start a better life away from the influence of Illegal Drugs.
